Accepted escort types: law enforcement (required at night or when specified on the permit), an escort qualified by another state's agency, or a qualified escort who has completed an Escort Qualification Course.

Maximum gross vehicle weight is 80,000 lbs, with a single axle maximum of 22,000 lbs and a tandem axle maximum of 44,000 lbs — both figures include a 10% scale tolerance.

For the tractor semi-trailer configuration: internal bridge 1 spans 16 ft with a max of 48,000 lbs, and internal bridge 2 spans 40 ft with a max of 68,500 lbs.

Bridge formula requirements (per Table 2) apply on Interstate highways and are triggered by: 4 axles with a 47'+ wheelbase, 5 axles with a 41'+ wheelbase, 6 axles with a 33'+ wheelbase, or any vehicle exceeding 73,271 lbs.

A temporary fuel permit costs $45 and is valid for 10 days. It exempts the carrier from motor fuel tax, but not from the pump tax.

Violating a special permit stipulation can result in fines of up to $1,000 per violation. Overweight fines are $10 flat if the load is under 200 lbs over the limit, and 5 cents per pound over the limit once overweight exceeds 200 lbs.

A rotating, strobe, or flashing amber light visible from 500 ft is required, and must be used in fog or heavy rain.

No movement is permitted on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas for loads over 14'6" high, over 80' long, and/or over 10' wide (F.A.C. 14-26). If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the restriction shifts to the preceding Friday or following Monday.

Loads under 10' wide may travel from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, 7 days a week. Loads 10'–14' wide may travel under the same window, but only until noon on Saturdays and Sundays.

Standard tire pressure, tread, and rotation guidance applies. Turnpike Tandem axles require matching tires. Dual-to-single tire replacement is allowed as long as the tire ratings are not exceeded. No tire may exceed 550 lbs per inch of section width.

Florida's "Move Over" law requires drivers to either slow to 20 mph below the posted limit or move over a lane for stopped emergency or utility vehicles. Reduced Speed Ahead signage is posted 1,000 ft in advance on rural Interstates and 500 ft in advance on rural non-Interstate roads.
