Where qualification gaps actually surface
Credentials rarely expire all at once — a medical certificate lapses quietly six weeks into a long-haul run, or the annual MVR review required under 49 CFR 391.25 was due last quarter and never happened. These gaps tend to surface at the worst possible time: a roadside inspection, or a DOT audit that pulls the full driver file under Part 391 Subpart C.
Verification at the dispatch level, not just at hire
A driver qualified at hire isn't necessarily qualified eight months later. Tracking renewal dates and checking status before every dispatch — not just once during onboarding — is what actually prevents a lapsed credential from turning into a violation.
