Before the first day
A driver's qualification file — application, MVR, medical certificate, and road test — should be complete before they're dispatched on their first load, not assembled after the fact. Building this file during recruiting rather than after hire keeps onboarding moving without compliance gaps.
Orientation content that matters
Effective orientation programs typically cover company policy, Hours of Service and ELD use, drug and alcohol program requirements, accident and breakdown procedures, and — for carriers running oversize freight — what to expect when running with permits and escorts.
